Engineered siding has some benefits over traditional wood or vinyl siding options. It can often look like a typical wood siding to the average person, allows unlimited options for trim details around windows, doors and rooflines, and often can go longer between needing paint than wood siding. Proper installation is important to ensure these products will perform and last as advertised. These types of siding typically cost more than vinyl, and are often similar to the cost of wood siding.
Fiber cement siding is made up of Portland cement, sand, water and cellulose fibers. It withstands damage from moisture or rot, is unappealing to critters like termites or woodpeckers, and is non-combustible. It is available in prefinished color options that last longer than a standard wood siding paint or stain. It is available in standard clapboard style, shingle style, or vertical board and batten style.
LP SmartSide is an engineered wood siding product with multiple options including traditional clapboard, board and batten, or shake style. LP offers 16 pre finished color options and comes in a realistic cedar wood grain texture. A large benefit of SmartSide is its superior resistance to dents or damage and it uses 100% sustainably sourced wood fiber during manufacturing.
